How to access and use the Internet browser (Vewd Browser) on Sony's Android TV

IMPORTANT:

  • Make sure the TV is connected to the Internet using either a wired or wireless connection before proceeding. For details about the network connection, refer to the following FAQ:

Displaying the menu bar
Press the menu button button on the upper part of the screen, to expand the menu area.

NOTE: If the menu bar is not displayed (automatically hides), scroll the page to the upper part, then move the cursor more to the upper direction. The menu bar appears.

[A] History: You can manage the browsing history
[B] Tabs: You can add the new tabs

[E] Forward: Forward to the next page
[F] Reload: Reload the page again
[G] Address bar: You can enter search keyword or URL address
[H] menu button button: Expand the menu area
[I] speed dial button: Open the Speed Dial menu
[J] Opera button button: Open the window for other settings


How to use the IR Remote Control / Touchpad Remote Control

You can browse the Internet using the supplied IR Remote Control / Touchpad Remote Control (for the 2015 model).
NOTE: The supply of a Touchpad Remote Control with the TV depends on your model/region/country. An optional Touchpad Remote Control is available.

  • For the IR Remote Control
    Use the up, down, left and right buttons to focus on the desired item. Press the center of the Enter button to select the item currently in focus. To scroll, press and hold the up, down, left and right buttons to the desired direction.

  • For the Touchpad Remote Control (For 2015 models / optional)
    Slide your finger on the touchpad to highlight an item. Press the touchpad until it clicks to select the item.

    To scroll, flick down/up (or swipe) along the right side of the Touchpad.

Launching and exiting Vewd TV Browser

Launching the Browser

  1. Press the HOME button on the remote.
  2. Select Internet Browser in the Apps category.

Exit the Browser

  1. Move the cursor to the menu bar and focus the button.
    NOTE: If the menu bar is not displayed (automatically hides), scroll the page to the upper part, then move the cursor more to the upper direction. The menu bar appears.
  2. Press the Enter button on the remote. (If you use the Touchpad remote, press the touchpad until it clicks.)
  3. Select Exit Vewd TV Browser.
  4. Select OK on the following window.

Entering the text / Searching / Entering URL address

[D]: GO button

NOTE: To close the on-screen keyboard, press the BACK button on the remote.

  • Entering the text
    You can enter text using the on-screen keyboard. Follow steps to display the on-screen keyboard.

    1. Move the cursor to the enterable area, such as a text box.
    2. Select the Enter button on the remote (or press the touchpad remote until it clicks).
  • Searching / Entering URL address
    You can also access any website by keyword search or entering the URL directly into the address bar.

    1. Move the cursor to the menu bar and focus the address bar.
      NOTE: If the menu bar is not displayed (automatically hides), scroll the page to the upper part, then move the cursor more to the upper direction. The menu bar appears.
    2. Press the Enter button (or press the touchpad remote until it clicks) with the address bar focused.
    3. When the on-screen keyboard is displayed, input the desired search terms or web address, and select GO.

To operate the TV by the Voice search (only remote controls with the voice button)
For remote controls with the button, press the button and speak into the microphone that is built into the remote control. For the Voice Search function, refer to the following FAQ:

Using the function of History / Tabs / Bookmarks

You can use the function of History, Tabs, and Bookmarks.
Move the cursor to the menu bar and press the mune button button to expand the menu area.
NOTE: If the menu bar is not displayed (automatically hides), scroll the page to the upper part, then move the cursor more to the upper direction. The menu bar appears.

  • Managing the browsing history
    You can access a web site from the previous browsing history. In addition, you can clear the history.

    [B]: Clear History

    NOTE:

    • The clear history function will delete entire browsing history. It cannot delete individually history items.
    • You can also delete the browsing history by following steps.
      1. Focus and select the Opera buttonbutton on the menu bar.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Select Clear History.
  • Using the Tabs function
    You can browse the Internet by switching multiple tabs.

  • Managing the Bookmarks
    You can register the desired or favorite website as bookmarks and access it immediately.

    Editing the Bookmarks
    You can rearrange the Bookmarks list or delete unnecessary Bookmarks.

    Registering the Bookmarks

    1. Load the page that you want to register to your Bookmarks.
    2. Move the cursor to the menu bar and press the menu buttonbutton to expand the menu area.
      NOTE: If the menu bar is not displayed (automatically hides), scroll the page to the upper part, then move the cursor more to the upper direction. The menu bar appears.
    3. Select [C] Add to Bookmarks.
    4. Select OK when following screen is displayed.

Using Speed Dial function instead of a Home page setting

Vewd TV Browser does not have a Home page setting. The Speed Dial can be used as an alternative function. For the Speed Dial function, refer to the following FAQ:

Enlarging the screen

You can resize the screen to your desired size.

  1. Move the cursor to the menu bar and select Opera buttonbutton.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select your desired enlargement.
